Which size of sheepskin rug do you need?

• Single, one whole skin, about 35 in long. Best over a dining or office chair, on the corner of a sofa, or at the end of a bed. $79.
• Double, two skins seamed into a runner, about 67 x 24 in. Made for a bench, the back of a sofa, or beside the bed. $135.
• Quad, four skins seamed into a rectangle, about 67 x 43 in. This is the full floor rug. $249.

Curly or longwool?

Both come from the same animal. The difference is fleece length. Curly short wool sits close to the hide, keeps its shape underfoot and picks up less dust, so it is the easier choice for a floor. Longwool has a deep pile of about 2 to 3 in that you sink your hand into, and it looks richer draped over furniture.

Why our sheepskin rugs cost less

We specialize in seconds, known in the trade as B-grade skins. That grade is decided on appearance alone: a slightly irregular shape, or a little variation in color or fleece across the skin. The wool is just as soft and the hide is just as strong, so a second wears and lasts like a top-grade skin. You are paying less for a small cosmetic mark most people never notice.

Colors, care and delivery

Ivory is the natural, undyed color and the most light-stable, so it suits bright rooms. The dyed shades fade in harsh direct sun over time, so keep them out of it. Day to day a genuine sheepskin rug looks after itself: shake it, air it, and brush the fleece. When one needs a full clean, hand wash it in cool water and dry it flat.
