Yes. Every skin is a real, full sheepskin from New Zealand on a natural suede hide. Nothing synthetic, no printed backing, no faux pile.

Our curly short-wool skins have a tidy, easy-care fleece that sits close and stays neat. The long-wool Merino skins feel very different. The pile is deep and plush, around 5-7 cm, the kind you sink your hand into. Both are genuine New Zealand sheepskin. It comes down to the look and feel you want.

We specialize in seconds, also called B-grade skins. These are real, genuine sheepskins with a small cosmetic mark that keeps them out of the very top premium grade. Because they miss that strict cosmetic bar, we can buy them for less and sell them for much less. That's how we keep genuine sheepskin affordable.

A second is a skin with a slight natural irregularity in its shape, color or fleece. The wool is just as soft and the hide just as strong as a top-grade skin. It just doesn't pass the strictest cosmetic grading, and that lower grade is the whole reason it costs less.

Usually not. The marks are small and cosmetic, and they often blend into the natural variation you'd expect in a real skin anyway. On some skins you'll be hard pressed to spot anything at all.

Yes. The difference is cosmetic, not structural. The hide is just as strong, and the skins wear and last just as well as top-grade ones.

No. Ivory is the natural, undyed color of the wool, and it's the most light-stable shade we sell. The other colors are dyed. Dye reacts to UV over time, so keep dyed skins out of harsh, direct sunlight to avoid fading.

Sheepskin is naturally breathable, which is why a lot of parents like it. With very young children we'd still say supervise them on it, as you would with any bedding or throw. If you'd prefer, give the skin a wash before first use.

Day to day it's low-maintenance. The lanolin in the wool helps it resist dirt and odor, so a shake and an airing goes a long way. For washing and drying steps, see our sheepskin care guide.

A single is about 90 cm long, good for a chair or as an accent throw. A double is about 170 x 60 cm, which suits a bench, a sofa runner or a bedside spot. The large rug is about 170 x 110 cm for a floor or the center of a room. Every skin is natural, so sizes are approximate. There's more detail in our size guide.

Yes. Each skin is natural, so shape, color and fleece vary a little from one to the next and from the photo on screen. If you're not happy with the one you received, contact us and we'll sort it out.
