More about our sheepskins+
A double sheepskin rug is two full New Zealand Merino skins joined down the middle to make one long runner, roughly 67 x 24 in. The extra length is the whole point: it covers a stretch of furniture that a single skin leaves short at one end.
Where a sheepskin runner rug fits
- Along a hallway or a hall bench
- Over the back or seat of a two-seater sofa, without a gap at either end
- Across the foot of a bed
- Beside the bed, as a soft landing in the morning
These are two real hides, so the halves will never match perfectly. A slight shift in tone or curl either side of the seam is normal, and it is a good sign: printed imitations are uniform in a way real skins never are.
Curly or longwool
The curly double sheepskin rug comes in Pearl, Taupe, Ivory and Grey. Its short, tight fleece keeps its shape under weight, so it is the better choice anywhere people sit or walk.
The longwool runner comes in six colors, including Linen, Steel, Wolf Tip and Chocolate, with a pile of about 2 to 3 in. Draped over furniture it reads as the more luxurious of the two.
Both are $135, which clears our $99 threshold, so a double ships free.
Sizes and care
67 x 24 in is approximate, since every skin is shaped by the animal it came from. Compare it against the single and the quad in our size guide. Shake and air it to keep the fleece open, and when it needs a real clean, hand wash it in cool water and dry it flat, never in a tumble dryer. Returns are open for 30 days.
