More about our sheepskins+
Our brown sheepskin rugs are dyed in Chocolate, a deep, warm brown that runs right through a long, silky Merino fleece. Every skin is genuine New Zealand sheepskin on a natural suede hide.
What Chocolate actually looks like
It is a true dark brown rather than a tan or a taupe. On a long fleece the colour reads differently depending on the light, because the fibres are 2 to 3 in long and the tips catch more light than the base. That is what gives a brown sheepskin rug its depth, and it is why photographs rarely do it justice.
If you want something lighter, Wolf Tip and Taupe sit between Chocolate and Ivory. If you want darker still, there is a black skin in the single size.
The three sizes in Chocolate
- Single, one whole skin, about 35 in long. Good on a chair, a sofa corner or the end of a bed. $79.
- Double, two skins seamed into a runner, about 67 x 24 in. $135.
- Quad, four skins seamed into a rectangle, about 67 x 43 in. The floor rug. $249.
On the larger sizes each skin came from a different animal, so expect small shifts in tone across the seams. On a dyed shade like Chocolate you will notice it more in daylight than under a lamp.
Care and delivery
Dye reacts to UV, so keep a brown sheepskin out of harsh, direct sun to hold the colour. Shake and air it regularly, and brush the pile to keep it open. For a full clean, hand wash in cool water and dry it flat away from heat. Orders ship from within the USA, shipping is free over $99, and you have 30 days to return anything.
